2014 FIRST - Aerial Assist

Game Format

game
  • Compete on a flat 27-54 foot field with a lighting truss suspended 5 feet about the center of the field
  • 2 Alliances with 3 teams each
  • Matches are 2 minutes and 30 seconds long
  • Collect and Score 12 inch balls in goals
  • Points are award for using multiple robots to move the ball down the field and into the goals
  • The game is broken down into two periods: Autonomous and Teleop

Autonomous Period

  • Game begins with a 10 second Autonomous Period
  • Robots operate independent of driver inputs
  • Each robot may begin with a ball
  • Points are scored during this period for:
    • Moving into the zone during
    • Scoring balls into the goal
    • Bonus points for scoring in the "hot" goal

Teleop Period

  • Drivers control the robot
  • Balls can only be entered onto the field once the autonomous balls are scored
  • Balls are cycled one at a time
  • Points are awarded for throwing balls over the truss
  • Catching balls thrown over the truss
  • Scoring balls in the high and low goals
  • There are large bonus points for "assists" which are earned when a robot has possession of the ball in a zone and the ball moves downfield.
